NCCID Projects

An environmental scan conducted in 2007 identified a number of topics of concern to public health practitioners in Canada. NCCID identifies issues of greatest importance to its stakeholders as project topics through discussion with NCCID's Advisory Board and expert working groups and stakeholders.

Current NCCID projects include:

Knowledge Translation: Prevention of HIV and sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections

Human immunodeficiency virus and sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBI) continue to be major public health problems in Canada.  To help combat these, NCCID has an HIV/STBBI prevention initiative focused on improving outreach to vulnerable populations, and advancing strategic approaches for designing and implementing prevention programs.

Knowledge Translation: Integrating new technologies into public health for prevention and control of infectious diseases

New technologies for detecting, identifying and monitoring new and re-emerging infectious diseases present both challenges and opportunities for public health in Canada. NCCID has a knowledge translation project to strengthen Canada's response to infectious disease threats through the integration of new technologies into current and future public health programs.

Knowledge Translation: Reducing the burden of Community-Acquired Antimicrobial resistant organisms
