Knowledge Exchange Networks

The National Collaborating Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCCID) will establish knowledge exchange networks within NCCID project areas to facilitate collaborations on important public health issues.  Amongst many things, network members will be able to conduct discussions on various areas of interest, post documents and links to share with the group, communicate about upcoming events, and maintain a current database of relevant contacts.  The NCCID knowledge exchange networks are supported by the Canadian Network for Public Health Intelligence (CNPHI).  NCCID will act in a limited capacity as moderator of the networks, but content is primarily user-driven in order to respond promptly to important issues in the public health community.

The Canadian Network for Public Health Intelligence (CNPHI) is a comprehensive framework of applications and resources designed to fill critical gaps in Canada's national public health infostructure.  Guided by multijurisdictional program-led working groups, the goal of the CNPHI is to reduce the occurrence of human illness associated with infectious diseases by developing tools that will enhance the surveillance, communications and response capacities of public health stakeholders. CNPHI's innovative Program/IT approach supports data sharing and collaboration by integrating disparate data sources and facilitating intelligence generation and dissemination to enhance public health coordination and response activities for the direct benefit of local, regional, provincial/territorial and national stakeholders. To reach its objectives, CNPHI has organized its activities into six main areas of focus:

• Knowledge Management
• Disease Specific & Syndromic Surveillance and Reporting
• Disease Specific Pan Canadian Alerting and Notification
• Communication & Collaboration
• Event Management
• Laboratory Quality Systems

If you would like to register for a NCCID knowledge exchange network or if you are already a CNPHI member and would like to receive access to a NCCID CNPHI network, please contact us.
